The team at Thornham Marina are delighted to announce that we have been presented for the second year, the award for Highly Commended Business of the year at the Chichester Observer 2010 business awards!
The award night was a black tie occasion, attended by many varying businesses in the Chichester area, all competing for awards titles. It was hosted by Fred Dinenage, Southern News Reader.
Jeanette went to collect the award followed by the proud staff! A fantastic night was had by all and we would like to thank all our customers for their loyal support over the years and to all those who voted. Without you it would be impossible to win such an award.

We Don't Just Help Customers Save Pounds At Thornham Marina, We Are Helping Our Staff To Loose Pounds Too!
At Thornham Marina you will find a team of 5 happy staff who are willing to help you save pounds this season! But Jeanette thought it was time she helped us to loose the pounds! We are embarking on an exhilarating, jam packed; some might even say crazy fitness sessions! We are getting fit, British Military Style!
British Military Fitness or BMF for short is the largest and longest running provider of outdoor fitness in the UK. They have a team of 500 staff based throughout the UK who are serving or former members of the armed forces and all hold fitness qualifications.

Jeanette thought this would be a really good idea to boost team morale, and help some of loose those unwanted pounds gained after Christmas! Cliff, who is expecting a beautiful baby boy anytime now wants to be able to keep up with him as soon as he starts running around! I know I certainly (Courtney Jane) want to feel comfortable this summer although I am slightly worried at finding out how unfit I actually am! Jeanette is very keen to get this underway and get her fitness back to top condition as she is taking part in the 2011 Fastnet race!
With Jeanette having served in the army for 21 years these PT sessions will be like a fond memory coming to life; however for the rest of the staff it may be a horrible nightmare that won’t disappear once you have woken! I joke, I joke, (I think? I’ll let you know tomorrow!).
These sessions will take place every Wednesday and Friday, one at Thornham and one at our sister site Trafalgar Wharf who are also embarking on this fitness adventure!
For those of you who may be interested in getting fit the British Military style take a look at their website www.britmilfit.com to find out what classes are running in your local area!
P.S, Keep checking the blog as we will keep you updated on our sessions and how we are getting on!

Thornham Marina Would Like To Welcome Their Latest Tenant, S. Hulme & Sons - Traditional Ship Wrights
Thornham Marina Would Like To Welcome Their Latest Tenant S. Hulme & Sons Traditional Shipwrights. Steve will be moving into Unit A at the beginning of May and will be doing boat repairs and offering a boat management service. Thornham Marina are excited about welcoming him into our extended family and wish him all the best. Below is a short biography about him, and his previous work experience.
Steve has been working as a traditional shipwright for the past 16 years. In 1995, Steve graduated from the International Boatbuilding Training College, Lowestoft, with a distinction in Traditional Boatbuilding.
From there, Steve joined Sealine International as a boat fitter working on the production of luxury yachts. In 1997, Steve joined Premier Yachts, Hayling Island as a junior Boatbuilder where he expanded his experience working on 30 – 48ft bespoke steel yachts. Steve followed this with a gap year, travelling around the world with a fellow Boatbuilder and gained valuable skills working for Port Douglas Shipwrights, Australia.
In 2000, Steve went back to education, where in 2003, he graduated with a Bsc Honours degree in Sports Science and Business Management from Manchester University. He supplemented his studies working for Daniels and Thomas Cabinet Makers, producing furniture for Royal Dalton.
Steve decided an office job was not for him! So in 2003 he returned to the world of boatbuilding on the south coast, as a self-employed Boatbuilder. Steve has subcontract for European Yacht Services, Northney Marina, Nick Gates and Co, Thornham and Emsworth Marina and E. Dridge Boatbuilders, Hayling Island.
From the age of 14, hockey played a major part in Steve’s life (on and off the pitch!) he has been lucky enough to play hockey at international level, and up until four years ago was still playing for Havant Hockey Club 1st team in the national league.
Steve is family orientated; he is married to Sheena, has two boisterous sons, Alex (5) and Sam (2.5) and Bentley the adopted family dog. With his family in mind, Steve has very recently set up his own company, S. Hulme & Sons Traditional Shipwrights, and is looking forward to a long and successful relationship with the loyal and future customers of Thornham Marina.
A big thank you to Jeanette, Courtney Jane, Dave and Cliff, for their help and support with this exciting new venture.
A new website and email contact to follow soon.
Have a good season from S. Hulme & Sons Traditional Shipwrights.
